Hayden Age 14- SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center
"During a routine infant examination, Hayden’s pediatrician thought that something wasn’t quite right. He sent him over to SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center, where they ran additional tests. It was discovered that Hayden was born in kidney failure and would need a kidney transplant. Following the diagnosis, both parents were tested to see who would be the best donor candidate. It was determined that his father, Dave, was the best match for the donor kidney.
Hayden’s transplant occurred at Cardinal Glennon, where he received his new kidney from his father just one month prior to his third birthday. Over his young life, Hayden has endured 24 surgeries, most recently a knee surgery when he was in 5th grade. He continues to visit Cardinal Glennon every three months for regular checkups and enjoy visiting with his care team.
Hayden is in the 8th grade at Fort Zumwalt West Middle School. In his spare time, he loves to bowl and play basketball with friends. Hayden and his family are very active supporters of the Transplant Olympics and Hayden has competed in the games!"
