Dance Marathon Committee & Executive Board Descriptions
MoraleThis committee ensures that the day of the big event runs smoothly. They reserve all rooms for the day of and the night before and are responsible for all logistics for that day. They secure all entertainment for the day of as well as make a schedule for the day. They coordinate games and events to help keep the dancers in attendance throughout the night. They are
responsible for creating the karaoke playlists as well as the theme hours. They also create a slideshow for the event. Also, this committee makes the music and the dance for the Morale Song that is taught throughout the night. This committee creates the design for the t-shirts and also orders and picks them up for that day. [email protected] Finance This committee receives all of the monetary donations from participants and our letter writing campaign. They work with Excel to
create a spreadsheet to track current and past donations. They input all donors into the website. This committee is also responsible for the budget of the organization. They draft and eventually turn in funding requests from on-campus organizations such as Student Government, RHA, and DICE. They are responsible for all receipts and all monetary expenditures. They are also responsible for setting up and maintaining a group bank account. [email protected] Dancer RelationsThis committee is responsible for getting as many people to sign up for the event as possible. This committee emails out reminders about addresses, signing up, theme hours, details of the event, etc. to the litserv. They should be sending an email to dancers once every two weeks prior to the event.
[email protected] Public Relations & MarketingThis committee is responsible for the publicity of Dance Marathon on SEMO’s campus. They coordinate with local newspapers and TV stations in order to raise awareness in the community for DM. Further, they raise awareness on campus by participating in interviews in campus PR outlets such as the radio and newspaper. This committee works very closely with the Special Events Committee, especially for things like faculty involvement.
[email protected] Corporate RelationsThis committee secures major sources of revenue for the event and for the organization. They are also supposed to create and maintain a Corporate Relations handout with incentives, etc. for businesses. This committee is also responsible for contacting major national businesses such as airline tickets, STL sports teams, etc. in order to secure large incentive prizes for the dancers and any type of special appearances at the event. It is also this committee’s goal to get many supplies donated to the event in lieu of having to get the money elsewhere.

Letter WritingThis committee is responsible for the actual letter writing campaign associated with Dance Marathon. This committee tracks current addresses being turned in by dancers as well as tracks last year’s donors in order to have a successful campaign. This committee prints letters and sends them to the proper recipients. They work closely with the Dancer Relations Committee in order to make sure all participants are turning in their addresses.
[email protected] Family RelationsThis committee works directly with the Miracle Families that attend our event each February. This committee secures as many families as possible to attend and works very closely with the Children’s Miracle Network liaison for SEMO’s campus. This committee secures hotel rooms for the participants if needed. This committee is also responsible for setting up and implementing a pen-pal program for the Executive Board members and the children. It is this committee’s goal to expand this to other organization’s who plan to participate in Dance Marathon as well. This committee also works with the Morale Committee in order to place family speaking times during the event.
[email protected] FundraisingThis committee is responsible for raising funds for the organization and for the Children’s Miracle Network. This committee is responsible for setting up joint Culver’s Nights, Texas Roadhouse Nights, McAlister’s Nights, etc. with outside organizations in order to foster relationships with organizations that plan to be in attendance at DM.It is also this committee’s responsibility to look into further fundraising ideas such as Change Wars in the grade schools, etc.
[email protected] Food & PrizesThis committee is to obtain prizes for the event’s participants as well as food for the participants throughout the 12 hour event. This committee is also supposed to secure as many prizes as possible for the event.
[email protected] TechnologyThis committee is responsible for the Dance Marathon website through Donor Drive. They ensure it is constantly working as well as being utilized.
